Every individual decorator has a unique lens through which the craft can be interpreted, and we aim to provide the tools and support needed for makers to recognize that lens and share their perspective with others.

As a learning hub and networking collective, we know that combining inspiration with structure is the key to our personal vitality and the vibrant businesses we build as cake makers. Together, we transform through ancestral recipes, radical experimentation, and creative emulsion.

Cake represents everything good about human culture, community, and commensality (aka eating together).

It brings us together in celebration. It gives us sacred moments of pause, sharing, and savoring together. More than any other symbol or food, it marks every milestone and special occasion, stringing our happiest moments together over the years into an album of foundational memories.

In a world turning more attention toward digital technology, cake reminds us that we have bodies and senses while caramelizing the significance of meaningful moments. Cake is a unique human creation, a globally recognized symbol of celebration that interweaves art, food, psychology, and culture.

Cake deserves to be celebrated. What cake lacks in permanence, it makes up in meaningfulness.

First and foremost, Cake Circle is a neighborhood. We connect individuals with their own curiosity and playfulness, while also connecting them with a resilient network of other creative makers.

And we mean neighborhood in the deepest sense, especially in a world that pressures us to go it alone. Modern cake life is engineered for isolation: creating in silence, scrolling past each other instead of connecting. A Circle is our answer to that.

Gathering in a Circle is a form of resistance. It’s a choice to trade in separation for connection, competition for companionship, and solitary striving for shared practice. We come together to talk shop, swap inspiration, witness each other’s growth, and keep the spark alive as humans who are our fullest selves when we are in community.

We assert that cake is a vital and distinctive art form, a full-sensory experience that communicates cultural attunement and creates core memories in kitchens, at dining tables, and in celebration spaces worldwide.

Our goal is to usher in a new era that positions cake as fine art, resists the disembodiment that technologies like AI impose on humankind, and emphasizes cake as a profoundly pleasurable, emotionally resonant experience.

Sight, smell, touch, taste, and in a celebratory context, sound—cake touches on them all as what is truly the pinnacle of human expression and experience.

We assert that cake is an act of resistance, an agent of change, and at the pulse of a culture.

Our industry’s reputation needs adjustment and revivement. After covid shuttered many businesses, and decades of media have reduced our unique art form to a bland assortment of reality TV-style competitions, cake makers are burnt out from the grind of trying to keep business afloat... or just plain disenchanted with decorating altogether.

Inspiration is cratering, and that threatens the diversity of voices and styles that make the cake world such a spectacular place to find community and access creative joy.

We Cake Circle co-founders draw on backgrounds in Fine Art, Psychology, social sciences, marketing, instructional design, and a combined forty years of making boundary-obliterating cake art in order to provide comprehensive support to cake artists groping for authentic expression in an increasingly plastic cultural landscape.

We will continue to foster creative growth and economic health in our beloved cake community until every cake maker can share their work viably and confidently.
