FOR THE LOVE OF CAKE

This gathering place is a life-long passion for the practice of using cake as an artistic medium.

We believe cake is an instrument of betterment in the world.

We are building the community of collaboration we wish we'd had long ago.
We are building this with you.

Jasmine Rae

Pandemic, built a house, got divorced, moved 3 times, existential crisis, considered other careers, mother passed away, became an art teacher… still raising a thoughtful but powerhouse kid... and still making cakes. I ask myself: through all that, why did I not give up cake?

Through all these transitions, in my search for something meaningful and healthy, I realized that what I was looking for wasn’t necessarily inherent to particular career paths, but rather, was a creative act and perspective I could bring to any professional endeavor. The vitality and balance I wanted to offer to the world is needed everywhere—including among small business entrepreneurs, cake-lovers, and creative makers.

So I’m starting 'at home'; I figured out how I could love cake in a new way, and gave myself permission to be on a mission, whisk in hand.

Cake is a series of sensory acts, from the making to the viewing, inhaling, and to the eating. It reminds us that we are bodies relating to a natural world—it is an unsung expression of what makes us uniquely human. I love cake for the simple way it is life-affirming.

Azara Krovatin

When I was 13 years old, I made a Bûche de Noël. It looked like it had fallen out of the back of a truck, but something clicked, and I’ve been enamored of cake as a form of creative expression ever since.

Everything about cake makes my heart sing: the many delicate processes, the heady flavors and smells, the humming rhythm of the kitchen, the quiet focus of the studio.

And above all else… the circles. Circles of parchment and cardboard, the mesmerizing concentric rings of nested cake pans, circles of layers and damming and filling building up into the flat circle of the top and the smooth curving canvas of the sides, the crowns and swags of piped icing scrolls, collars of chocolate and marzipan, and draped sheets of fondant dancing round and round as the steel circle of the turntable spins.

Then, of course, come the rings of people who gather around cake, everyone waiting for that magical moment when the knife is lowered and the circle is broken, like scissors cutting a ribbon, and slices are distributed for all to enjoy as we celebrate, together.

Cake is love, and so love must be a Circle.

MISSION

What is
Cake Circle?

A Dialogue.

A Neighborhood.

A Movement.

Cake Circle is you.

can you make a difference by making cake?

We are the Joy Makers.
The Meaning Weavers.
The Protectors of the Gathering.

In a world of constant flux, our work as Cake Makers creates a focal point that people join around in a circle. The cake ceremony is a vital support for collective enjoyment, celebration, and shared meaning.
When as cake makers we are invited to contribute to a significant moment in others' lives, we are creating an art piece that affirms communal bonds, promotes love and satisfaction, and that will literally become the bodies of those who eat it.

Cake represents everything good about human culture, community, and commensality.
It brings us together in celebration. It gives us sacred moments of pause, sharing, and savoring together. More than any other symbol or food, it marks every milestone and special occasion, stringing our happiest moments together over the years into an album of foundational memories.
In a world turning more attention toward digital technology, cake reminds us that we have bodies and senses while caramelizing the significance of meaningful moments. Cake is a unique human creation, a globally recognized symbol of celebration that blends art, food, psychology, and culture.

When you make a cake for another person, you affirm Fellowship, Embodiment, Purpose, and Vitality
For many of your clients and customers, a cake is the only art piece they will ever commission in their life. It is a communication to their loved ones that this moment matters. By making a cake you affirm to someone that they matter.

We LOVE cake, and even more so we love the people who have dedicated their lives to bringing it into the world.
But we also know how hard our industry can be on the creatives who gravitate towards it. We know about those long hours working in isolation, the never ending grind, the exhaustion, and eventually, that gradual dimming of your light as the pressures of running a business eclipse the reasons you started.

Do you remember why you started?

Your reasons may have evolved. Your needs may have changed...
If your business does not reflect what is important to you, there is work we can do with you. Whether you need fine-tuning, a complete transformation, or are thriving and simply want to offer and share with others who are where you've been, Cake Circle is a hub for everyone who makes cakes. That means you.

WHO ARE WE?

Same Dream : Different Locations

Two boundary-pushing cake makers on opposite coasts shared a vision of a vibrant space of mutual support and endless inspiration.
When the stars aligned, they connected and realized they had been building towards the exact same thing: a collective of bold cake artists stretching their skills and lifting their voices.

They joined their minds and efforts, and Cake Circle was born.

We built Cake Circle for ourselves, for you,
for all of us.

Jasmine started a 1 woman bakery clubhouse in 2006, quickly attracting a vibrant artist community of support. Passing through dark phases of boredom, ignorance, and burnout, she rounded a corner into ever-lasting inspiration by earning a M.A. in Somatic Psychology, having a baby, and clarifying her creative voice in the cake industry. Jasmine is recognized worldwide for her innovative approach and the advent of numerous techniques and use of unusual materials.

She teaches internationally and is on a bender to help humans stay embodied and healthy in the sensual world.
